Ruby's Nursery

There are so many things I love about this room. The colors, beautiful things made by people I love, the light this room gets during the day, the sweetness of the moments I have in here, the baby that goes in it....

My husband made this beautiful cabinet for me. I call it a quilt hutch. Something to keep all my blankets and quilts in. Many of my blankets are gifts from other people, and I like having them out where I can see them, instead of crammed in the deep dark corners of some closet. (and of course I placed that book there under the hutch just for the picture.... I can't have you thinking that my house is perfectly clean all the time! ....rrrright)

My beautiful friend painted this for us when Ruby was born. I particularly like the relationship of the sisters in the painting, that's how it is in real life too. My older daughter is so tender and protective of her baby sister. She really just adores her in every way possible. I love it so much. I also like the truly Minnesotan touches, the yarrow, the ferns, and of course, the moose.

I made the mobile right before Ruby was born, and highlighted it in a few posts back. I love how it turned out, even in this room.

This little lady loves her nursery too! She talks to the polka dots on her bumper pads, and she loves to pat the periwinkle wall with her chubby little hand when she wakes up. When she's on the floor playing she loves to crawl over to the low window and poke it with her finger. What a piece of heaven this girl is!

Pillows Redo

Old: nasty red pillows.

New: Floral happy pillows!

I found this perfect fabric on a clearance shelf at Target.
The cost was around 7 dollars.
Do you know how much decorative pillows are?
Way more than 7 dollars!!
It was a circle fabric table cloth,
and just the right amount for two new pillows!

Tea Towels

I made these as a wedding gift for one of my friends.
I think they would be fun to have in the kitchen,
bright and happy.

I just used some cotton,
I think for my next set I'll use a more towel-ish fabric.

I also tried out a couple of cute stitches on my machine
for the detail along the fabric seams.
