There are so many things I love about this room. The colors, beautiful things made by people I love, the light this room gets during the day, the sweetness of the moments I have in here, the baby that goes in it....
My husband made this beautiful cabinet for me. I call it a quilt hutch. Something to keep all my blankets and quilts in. Many of my blankets are gifts from other people, Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738742370273905513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7904579132505995919.post-2172032066883070052013-09-11T09:00:00.000-07:002013-09-11T09:00:01.004-07:00Pillows Redo
Old: nasty red pillows.
New: Floral happy pillows!
I found this perfect fabric on a clearance shelf at Target.
The cost was around 7 dollars.
Do you know how much decorative pillows are?
Way more than 7 dollars!!
It was a circle fabric table cloth,
and just the right amount for two new pillows!

I made these as a wedding gift for one of my friends.
I think they would be fun to have in the kitchen,
bright and happy.
I just used some cotton,
I think for my next set I'll use a more towel-ish fabric.
I also tried out a couple of cute stitches on my machine
for the detail along the fabric seams.

Getting all set for sweet baby girls arrival!!
We found this wooden cradle for a steal of a deal,
and Mr. Pearson and Miss G painted it white for me.
It's perfect.
Mr. Pearson helped me make this adorable mobile!
It swivels. It's so neat!
I can rotate it to wherever I need it.
I created the fabric circles sewn together,
and he did the mechanics and welding and Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738742370273905513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7904579132505995919.post-51964526883337738762013-03-21T06:00:00.000-07:002013-07-14T15:21:43.596-07:00Little Miss Fox
I saw this cute little foxy one day on Pinterest,
and got the idea that it would be fun to make a little fox
for our new little baby who will be joining us soon!
I do really like the one I came across for inspiration,
but I decided to make up my own pattern so it would
be my original work.
Figuring out how to attach the head/ neck area was super tricky,
but I Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738742370273905513noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7904579132505995919.post-48317109340527988262013-03-18T10:47:00.001-07:002013-07-14T15:21:51.765-07:00Carseat Blanket
Getting ready for the arrival of Baby Girl!
I'm 37 weeks along today- feeling like "any minute now"
I'm so glad I got this done before she came!
I found the "pattern" on a blog called Calico.
I say "pattern", because she drew a picture a picture and
her instructions were "make it look like this!"
Which I thought was hilarious,
and a little tricky.
But I think it worked Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738742370273905513noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7904579132505995919.post-14602985907147223532013-03-05T11:31:00.000-08:002013-07-14T15:21:57.471-07:00little lady dress
I made this dress for miss g, and it turned out so adorable! I wanted something different than the typical little girls dresses that are in the stores (read: mini teen dresses= gross). I also wanted to use a different fabric than cotton, which is my usual go-to. I used this sort of satin fabric that washed and ironed out so beautifully.

I've been saving all our old t-shirts
and finally got them all crocheted into a rug!
I made it as a house warming gift for a friend,
and I really love how bright and colorful it turned out.
I used that big honkin' blue crochet hook and
started crocheting in the middle of the rug.
I did a single crochet stitch all the way around,
working toward the outside edge.

Learn something new:
Wheat Berries= the whole wheat kernals
Okay- you probably already know that,
but for me it's something new!
Anyhow, soak those babies overnight in warm water,
then water and keep drained for the next couple of days.
Once they sprout, you can use them in your bread.
Ohhhh, yummy.
They add such a good texture and flavor to the bread.

My favorite quilts I spotted on a quilt walk I went on this summer:

Yep, really.
A Barn.
In June my husband and I helped my parents
build a barn in their backyard.
The Before:
I can't really claim a ton of credit,
besides holding things up as they got screwed in place,
smoothing the cement for the foundation,
(dad says I'm pretty good at it...holla)
being a "go for" girl, and
carrying lumber from the front yard to the back.

I had a baby shower to go to last Friday,
so of course I waited until the day of to start sewing a gift.
As luck would have it, just as I got everything cut out, a migraine set in.
Oy.
After resting for a few hours I was able to function again-
with only an hour until I had to leave!
I am so glad I was able to cut the pieces out earlier,
because I got everything Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738742370273905513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7904579132505995919.post-67164686470295059262013-01-29T10:33:00.000-08:002013-07-14T15:23:03.639-07:00Snow Days
It's more snow for us in the twin cities, and I am so glad...
The old snow was really frozen and slippery and hard. And yucky and ugly.
Now it's all white again, and only a little icy on the roads and sidewalks.
Not to mention G likes to throw snowballs at me on our way out or in from the car,
any chance she gets, she's throwing them as fast as she can.

These are
heavenly.
I've always been a little skeptical of making my own bagels-
ever since moms first try ten years ago didn't work out,
and we ended up feeding them to the dog.
Well, mom found a new recipe!
She taught me how to make them
successfully
and the other day I got brave and tried it on my own.

but no apologies here:
I'm having a baby!
I've been busy growing and growing this little lady

other than think about how tired I am.
Yay for this crazy nesting pregnant lady!

"I don't like my room, Mommy"
is how it began.
The three year old suddenly realized
that her room wasn't pink,
so she doesn't like it.
At all.
She crawls in our bed at night,
because her room isn't pink.
I didn't feel like painting,
so we made a new bunting together instead:
I let her pick out her own fabrics...
I think she did a really great job!
...and now she Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738742370273905513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7904579132505995919.post-78112943896815014002012-05-21T08:00:00.000-07:002012-05-21T08:00:07.895-07:00... and we eat good food

I knew it just had to happen at some point... it's the mark of a true seamstress, right? I hope not!! Luckily it was just in the end of my thumb, hardly even a drop of blood was all it was.
But still.
It hurt.
And there was a needle in my thumb.
I was just sewing away on my sewing machine, working on that zig zag quilt, and suddenly my thumb got caught! Sweet little newborn angels.
I currently have about seven baby gifts to get done!
Well, now six I guess if this one is marked off

but I've been making a quilt for crying out loud!
This is my first official quilt I have done
all by my self- start to finish. Woo!

The story of the Yellow Piece:
One day I cut out all the pieces I needed, and of course had just enough fabric to make the pajamas. The next day I sat down to sew, and one of the front panels was missing. "Oh no!" I said. I designed and made this pillow covering for one of our
sad sad sad pillows that lives on the sofa.
I wanted something with color
(now that I say that, just so you know,
two of the white looking petals are actually sky blue,
and the other two are light grey.
They aren't white.)
and I also wanted something that was
different from what I've seen every where else.
Oh ya, Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738742370273905513noreply@blogger.com5
