This Garden

Well, here's the challenge.

Take the Utah gal, stick her in the Midwest, and see if she can still get her plants to grow! I am so so so grateful that we are living in a lovely home where there is enough space in the yard to have a veggie garden.
A real one. Last year we planted a real garden, but the land owners dog ate all of our plants before they really had a chance. No dogs this year! I planted some pansies and phlox in the front yard ,along with some lobelia. In the back yard is going to be the herb garden with basil and cilantro (yummy!), as well as the veggie garden. We hoping for a big crop of tomatoes, beans, carrots, and beets... probably some other yummy things, I'll let you know what we decide on. Here's hoping everything goes well this year!

It's a Bean

My mom was in town last week and we decided to go check out the Arboretum. It was, by the way, amazing. We discovered they have a ton of fun things going on, including the children's learning center. The day we went they were learning about seeds and sprouts, so we got to plant our very own bean in a little plastic bubble thingy. And do you know what? It sprouted. It was looking a bit too big for it's britches, so today little g and I transferred it to a real pot.

Keep growing, little bean! Or should we say, big bean?
This guy is only a week and a half old! Maybe he'll make it to our garden this spring....
