Making Introduction

Hello! How are you doing? I hope you are well. I feel like I haven't seen you in a while. I wanted to introduce you to my newest earrings that I designed. I call them Clara. And now that I look at this, the lower picture is really dark, so I apologize about that. Oy. One day my pictures will turn out perfectly every single time. Right. I really love these earrings. I love wearing them. And now Christmas is here I am loving giving them as presents.

We had a house full of guests for the weekend. My hubby's family was in town for a Christmas celebration and we had such a fun time with everyone here. We had a big dinner and gave gifts to each other, we sang jingle bells, and just sat and visited. My missy G got a new sled from her Memére and Papa, so we've also been outside playing in the snow alot. I can't believe Christmas is only a few days away! I might not be posting much during the holidays- not because I won't be making things, of course, but because I'll be visiting family and friends. I love Christmas so much. I love to see family and friends, making special treats, surprises, giving, and the magic of it all. I love the time of reflection on the things that really count in life. O Christmas Tree

My project of late has been this glorious white floofy tree. I thought it would be the perfect dining room table decoration for December (er, the rest of it, anyway...). Hey, it is white, we could probably leave it out for January too! I got my idea from here but made up how I did it as I went along. It does take a billion-gazillion filters for this tree, just in case you were wondering. This tree ended up being about 16 inches tall.

I made my base out of a cereal box, gluing it into the shape of a tree.

Then I just started gluing away! Gluing on the filters took for.ev.er. This is a great long-winter-stuck-in-the-house sort of project.

Once I got all the coffee filters glued in place, I used my scissors and trimmed all the edges to refine the shape of the tree. I know, it's a little lopsided and looks more like a snowed on pointy haystack. But I figure if I only put it out during the winter people will just assume it's supposed to be a tree, right? ...there's a first time for everything.

 

Advent Calendar

Only a couple days late! I finally finished my advent calendar that I started last month. I had to muster up some ambition to glue together all of the loose bells that were jingling in my crafting bag! A couple of really neat girls organized a super-duper craft night in November, and it was such a blast! We all brought some treats to share and spent about six hours talking and cutting and sewing and laughing and glueing. Hip-hip-hooray to the ladies that fist-time-braved the sewing machines, and double hooray to my friend that untied all of my bells from the garland! I sewed the pockets on her calendar in return. I probably would have had to come up with something else to stick in those little pockets if she hadn't untied them all for me!

See? They turned out really cute! I had to glue them all back together on a smaller string because they all came tied on one huge bell garland. My glue gun and I are becoming the best of friends. We sewed beads on the tree to hang all the bells from. Love it.... and only 19 more days 'til Christmas!
