ambers haircut

My cute cousin got tired of her long locks
so last week, away they went!

I loved doing this haircut because she has TONS of gorgeous hair. Her natural color is so rich and vibrant, I can't get enough of it! She kept a thick braid of hair to send in to Locks of Love, and the total amount of hair off the back was 11 inches. Brave lady!

You can see all of her pictures on her blog: The Sunny Day Studio

Don't you love that smile? It's so infectious!

A Change

You know that feeling you get sometimes right before you get your haircut?  I really am talking about right before your haircut... as in, sitting in the chair covered in the drape with your hair soaking wet and you are wondering if you should really get it cut or not. You are all nervous and anxious even though you've been angry and frustrated at your mane of madness every morning for the last two weeks (or three). Then you hear the "snip snip" and the "splat" of the first chunk of wet hair hitting the floor... and then you realize... there's no turning back! Unless you want a really dorky haircut with it all long on the top, and cut to the shorter length on the bottom... but who does that? That's gross.

This is my friend, Shel. I did this haircut for her, and once again I am posting pictures of her right after I cut it. That means it's totally unstyled! Sorry, Shel. You readers will have to use your imagination and picture it how she wore it the next day: blown out and flat-ironed. Wowza. This length really draws attention to her contagious smile!

Isn't she gorgeous? Too bad my photo taking skills are sill in the works...!

Spring is in the air and I'm feeling like a change of scenery around here. It is February, after all. That's the trick about February. It's seems like it should be all springy, and then I look out my window and see the three feet of snow still sitting there. Not to mention the temperature outside. I think I need a new pair of boots, maybe some brown ones.

New Look for 2011

Look at this lady! She is absolutely rocking this new haircut for january 2011! Sorry, no before photos on this one. I was so excited to cut her hair that I forgot the before pics! Oh, well. Just use your imagination and picture her hair being longer than it is in the pictures... yep, that's it. You are so good at this.

This is one of my best friends. I have known her since before I could read or ride a bike. We grew up around the corner from each other, and even our moms are the greatest of friends. I love connections like that, the ones that go deep in your heart and deep in your memories. In the past I have cut her hair when it was almost down to her waist, and I cut off all the length of her hair when she wanted it up to her shoulders. Now I was able to cut her hair into her "shortest hair cut ever". It was so fun, and I love looking at these pictures over and over again, she looks so good!

New Hair in December

Another big haircut for this month! This is my friend M, she decided it was time for a big change.  She has such soft silky hair with the most beautiful natural honey colored highlights, I loved cutting her hair!  I do have to say that she is so awesome because she let me post this 'after' picture of her hair while it was still partially wet. Not that it's that big of a deal, she still looks so fresh and pretty.  I cut off about seven inches of this girls hair, and thinned out about half of what was left! She had lots and lots and lots of hair. Lucky girl.  I love the new length of hair on her, it really brings out her eyes and draws more attention to her face... another good reason for embracing short hair!

Big Change

This is the before picture to one of the many haircuts I was privileged to do during our Thanksgiving break. It was also one of the biggest look changes out of all of them. This cute little lady was tired of her curls being so long and heavy. "That's an easy fix!" I said as I whacked off seven inches of hair.... just kidding... well, sort of kidding:

We really did cut off seven inches of hair, but it was definitely more precision cutting than just whacking it off! The first thing she said looking into the mirror was "It's so short!!!" But after a couple of minutes she warmed up to the idea, and loved it. It's kind of hard to see in the before and after pics, but we also did some highlights. They are very natural looking and subtle, but it added a really pretty depth to her one-shade natural brown color. Look how cute she is! I love this girl.
