Dessert Extravaganza

Aunt E, or Bala, as we affectionately call her,
made a special Fathers Day cake for this weekend.

She took an angel food cake,
and cut it in half horizontally.

Then she hollowed out the middle of the top and bottom layers
(using your fingers might work best)
and filled them with pudding
(traditionally custard, for the trifle effect)
and fruit

Strawberries, Raspberries,
Mandarin Oranges, and Apricots

And frosted it with whipped cream on the outside
and decorated the cake with the leftover fruit from the inside

Isn't it beautiful?
So perfect for a summer treat.
And there's a delicious surprise in the middle too!

And if that's not enough for you
Our friends brought over some amazing Chocolate Soufflés

I'd be nice and share, but...
I already ate them all.
