A New Find

I found myself looking at a new blog today, called Cranberry Fries. Usually when I am looking for new blogs I find myself going through them like this: "meh" click. "meh" click. "meh" click.... you get the point. There are so many blogs out there, and there are a lot of blogs that aren't kept up that pop up all the time. Maybe I'm just really bad at finding blogs.... that could very well be the case. Anywho, I came across this one today and it really caught my attention. Maybe I just needed to hear it today, as I was obviously feeling a little more on the "meh" side of things. Every Monday Debbie writes about Marriage in one way or another, and I really enjoyed what I found. I'm not having any serious marital issues (that I'm aware of..!), I just thought that maybe you'd like it too. Here's the part that I liked the most:
"There seems to be a superstition among many thousands of our young who hold hands and smooch in the drive-ins that marriage is a cottage surrounded by perpetual hollyhocks, to which a perpetually young and handsome husband comes home to a perpetually young and ravishing wife. When the hollyhocks wither and boredom and bills appear, the divorce courts are jammed.
Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he's been robbed. The fact is that most putts don't drop. Most beef is tough. Most children grow up to be just ordinary people. Most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration. Most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. . . .
Life is like an old-time rail journey--delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

  2. "When the hollyhocks wither and boredom and bills appear, the divorce courts are jammed." I call this celebrityitis. I'm not sure when people will learn the value of commitment. Good stuff. I look forward to seeing more of your crafty things. I love it!

Ain't that the truth? I've found that marriage is a lot like blogging; some good, some bad an' one day you wake up an' realize it's a part of who you are.
