Toddler Shirt

This. is. adorable.

My mom got me this big chunk of fabric while she was in town last so I cold make a bunch of summer outfits for my little G. I love the orange, it's so bright and happy and, well, summery. I found this tutorial for the "Leah Shirt" and absolutely fell in love with it. Starting off with my pieces all cut out, I followed Jess's directions and just guessed at the sizing. I sort of traced one of miss G's shirts that fits her right now and crossed my fingers that my pieces would end up the right size.  It worked pretty well.

I made my own biased tape that was smaller than regular biased tape, I didn't want the edging to be the focus of this shirt. Regular biased tape seemed to be a little too overwhelming for how small the shirt is.

Keyhole back

And, of course, the yo-yo embellishment

I think I'll end up making about 27 of these shirts before I get tired of them...
They are so easy and so so so sweet.

Special Occasion: Little Purple Dress

This is the cute little dress that I ended up making for miss G for my sisters wedding. All of the nieces in the family were in the same dress, and they were so adorable! Cute little purple girls running around. My sisters picked up the fabric and pattern, and sent it to me to assemble since we are in different states.

I'd have to say that it turned out better than I was imagining...
I haven't sewn anything silky or satiny.
The fabric did slide around a bit, but the pattern was easy enough
it didn't really bother me at all.

My favorite part is the ruffles on the bottom of the dress. They are so sweet.

Quick Cards Tutorial

I pulled out my scrap paper the other night to write a couple notes to some of my favorite people. I cut one cute paper in half and turned it over to write my message on the back of it. Just as my pen was about to touch the paper I thought, "What am I doing? That would be super lame to just have a note scrawled across the back of a plain piece of scrap paper!" I pulled out more paper, and my needle and thread, and made some really great cards in no time.

Here is what I came up with:

Cut out the paper, fold the big one in half for the card base

Stitch from front to back,
leaving the tail long enough to use for a knot

Stitch from back to front,
leaving a little space between the two stitches
so the paper won't rip

Tie a knot, trim off the excess thread.

And done- Cute cards instead of lame notes!
I love it when that happens.

Cozy Toesies

Aw, isn't this the sweetest thing you've seen all day?! These baby booties are so precious! I've been wanting to sew some little baby shoes for about the last, oh let's see, TWO YEARS or so. I just haven't. I don't even know why! So the other day I was looking around for some really great patterns with my good friend Google, and actually found some cute ones! This pattern was among the favorites that I found.

Download, print it out, voila.

Cut out fabric, follow instructional video, re-thread sewing machine 3 times...

... and done. These are going to make some great gifts. My mind is spinning with ideas for more of these little guys, and this is only one of the patterns that I found! Go ahead, take a look. I know you want to.
